Hmm, I just realized I haven't updated my journal in forever! Oh well, life matters get in the way. Let me see, the diabetes is under control, one shot of insulin a day and oral meds twice a day. So, not bad, considering. The pulmonary fibrosis is acting up, but not too bad. Just a cough, especially at night, but I've got a couple of inhalers and cough medicine that help alot. It snowed like crazy last night and it's a gray day out there, but it's pretty with the ground completely covered. I think it's snowed more this year than it has since I was a kid! At least I don't have to get out in it right now. I'm looking for a job, this retirement crap isn't working out as well as I thought it would. For one thing, I'm completely broke, and I do mean completely! For another, I'm bored. I didn't ever think I would get to that point, but it has! There is way too much time in the day now. So, I'm applying at a couple of places doing the same kind of work that I did for about 32 years. It's really the only thing I really know how to do. Thankfully, since it is nights, weekends, shift work, the openings come up fairly often. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed! Anyone who would like to do the same, please feel free!! I've been posting art off and on, my muse seems to visit sort of sporadically these days! And I guess that's about it for now! Take care everyone!!

Hi my friends, I know, I haven't been around as much as I had hoped. But I'm retired now and should have much more time! Btw, if any of you have any tips on making extra money to subsidize retirement, let me know! Okay, this is what has been going on with me! Let me see, first of all, the pulmonary fibrosis is still not progressing, which is a very good thing! On the down side, my pulmonary doctor did blood work when I saw him last week, and my blood sugar count was 501. Not good. They called me, made me promise to at least go to CareNow, since my regular doctor's office was closed. So, the day before my official last day at work, I go to the clinic, and my blood sugar is so high their machines won't register it. So, off to the emergency room, where they totally freak out over my levels, almost 800. So, I'm hooked to an IV, given insulin, and they admit me to the hospital. Well, I didn't have a good time, I can tell you. Plus, I had to work the next day, the last day of the month or my retirement date would be all messed up. So, I stay overnight, they get my sugar level down to less than 300, and I check myself out. Understand, this was a have to situation, I didn't have a choice. But, a really great endocrinologist stopped by before I left and gave me his name, number, office location,etc. He said to please come see him the next Monday. I told him, my insurance ended on my last day at work, and my new insurance doesn't start until Nov 15. That didn't bother him a bit! He said, come in, he would write it off and at least get me through the next couple of weeks until I do have insurance. Wow, not many doctors like that around anymore!! So, sorry to ramble on, but to make a long story a little shorter, I have Type 2 diabetes, I have to give myself insulin 4 times a day, plus take oral medication. I never in a million years would have thought I could give myself shots but I guess when the alternative is death, it makes it a little easier! So, I cleaned out the cabinets and fridge, stocked up on good, low carb, low sugar stuff, and am feeling so much better! I didn't realize how bad I had been feeling. And the sad part is, I had been telling my regular doc for months all the symptoms I was having and no one caught it. Sad! I think I'll be looking for a new doctor!

Hi everyone! Well, I just thought I was back but some health issues have come up that I'm trying to get on top of before they get out of hand. I had some trouble breathing that began recently when I stopped taking the singulair because of side effects. So, I needed to go to my doctor anyway for my 6 month check up and blood work, and she decided to check my lungs and heart. Well, let me tell you, there is no better way to scare me than to tell me my lung xray showed problems and my ekg wasn't normal, Great! So, I'm set up for a stress test for my heart and I have to see a pulmonary specialist to see what is up with my lungs. I'm scared, I admit it, I've lost my mother and grandfather to lung cancer and my sister to complications from pulmonary fibrosis. I really didn't want to hear about it, but of course, I'm not going to just ignore it. So, I'm in for a bunch of testing and so forth. I haven't had the time or really even the want, I guess you could say to make fractals lately. I haven't even signed on here for a while, didn't want you guys to worry, but I guess it's better to know, than not. Anyway, I'm trying to hang in there and not get too depressed, but it's really hard. I'm scared and I get really emotional trying to talk or even write about it, so I'll try to keep you guys updated, just don't worry if I'm not around as much for awhile. Love you all! s

Hi again! Okay, here is what happened! The tooth extraction turned into a dry socket, which is about the most painful thing I've ever had! I've had two of them now and believe me, if I never have another one, it will still be too soon! I spent the weekend in horrible pain, went back to the dentist, who confirmed that I do have a dry socket, and I've been to the dentist every day now to have it packed with medicine. Hopefully, today was the last time I'll have to go back, I'm still on antibiotics for another couple of days though. Then when it gets well, we will start the implant. God, I hate going to the dentist, this kind of thing always happens. I either get an infection, or a dry socket, or something! Oh well, maybe the worst is over, I certainly hope so!

So, how is everyone? I'm sorry I'm behind on my replies, etc. I've not been able to do much the last week or so. I posted a few pieces, I had more to post but just wasn't able to handle being upright for very long! I will get to my messages, just bear with me, please!
